Check for Claims

What is it?

CUE is a database that can see all claims made by customers in the UK. It does this by searching customers Names, DOB's, Addresses and Vehicle registrations.

Using claims checkers is an effective method to verify the accuracy of your policyholder's details. Often, if claims are not disclosed, several other details in the quotation may also be incorrect.

Why would claims be left undisclosed?

This is because claims significantly influence the pricing of a quote. For instance, a person with a history of 5 claims in the last 5 years is statistically 100% likely to make another claim in the current policy year.

How do I use it?

To use the ‘Check for Claims’ tool, simply head over to ‘Validation Tools’

Locate ‘Check for Claims’ – which looks like this:

Once here, simply click the down arrow, and then click ‘Run Cue’

In this example, CUE is unable to find any claims linking to that policyholder.

If CUE is able to find a claim then your screen will look like this.

To add a claim simply click the ‘Closed – Settled box’ which will then display a blue ‘+’ to the right hand side, along with in depth claim details below:

From here, simply click the blue + box, and fill out the claim boxes with relevant information, like you usually would on CDL.

Once completed, simply click ‘Add’ and this claim will now be added to your quote.

Tips and tricks:

  • With claims, currently, our insurers don’t require a specific claim amount. Leaving this as £0 won’t make prices cheaper, but it also won’t increase a policy premium. This allows you to add claim details quicker.

  • Sometimes claims show as duplicates, this is usually where a husband and spouse were named on the same policy previously. In these cases, you will need to add them on both husband and spouse.

  • Occurred under this policy’ should always be selected as ‘No’. This is because as a sales agent you are taking on a new quote, therefore the claims cannot have occurred under this policy as it is not yet incepted.
