Overview:
The No Claims Bonus (NCB), also know as No Claims Discount (NCD), is a valuable feature of vehicle insurance that rewards safe driving. It accumulates annually on a per-policy basis, extending additional discounts for each claim-free year.
Further Details:
- Accumulation:
- The NCB is accumulated annually. For every 12 months you are insured without making a fault claim, your NCB increases by one year.
- For example, a policy starting with 2 years of NCB will have 3 years of NCB at the renewal, provided no claims were made during that year.
- Policy-Specific, Not Individual-Specific:
- NCB is associated with a specific insurance policy rather than an individual driver.
- Transfer Conditions:
- To apply your NCB to a new policy:
- It must not be currently in use with another active policy or insurer.
- It must have been earned on a policy that expired less than 2 years ago (the time limit can vary between insurers, e.g., some may require 1 year, 6 months).
- Acceptable Policy Types:
- NCB earned from motorcycle insurance, traders, or fleet policies is generally not accepted.
- Most insurers accept Private Car NCB, though you should confirm this under the insurer referral guide.
- For House & Renters (H&R) policies, consult the insurer referral guide to see which insurers accept Commercial Vehicle NCB and which will only accept H&R NCB.
Adding NCB:
- CDL: When adding in NCB to CDL, make sure you select Y to Any.
- Altissima: Simply select the number of years NCB from the dropdown.
